Mr. Donald Gale Park, Galesburg Chapel

He was born October 13, 1931 in Galesburg, Ill., the son of George Harry Park and Lillian Otelia (Peterson) Park.
He was reared and educated in Galesburg where he had lived his entire life.
Don was married to Louise Elizabeth Pedigo on Nov. 26, 1949 in Kahoka, Mo. by the Rev. W.J. Vaughn. She passed away in Oct. 1989. Don’s second love was Kathy Pearcy who passed away in Jan. 2004.
He was a machinist at the Burlington Northern Railroad for 46 years, retiring in 1996. As a young man he also worked for Elliott’s Gas Station and did carpentry work as well. Don was an avid hunter and fisherman for most of his life, and enjoyed connecting with the Lord in the timber. As a boy and young man he attended church services at the First Lutheran Church in Galesburg. His favorite hunting and fishing buddy was his son, Dale. Don also enjoyed reading and had an insatiable appetite for books. He possessed excellent carpentry skills and built many things throughout his life. He especially enjoyed his family and spending time with his grandchildren, and being their “Bubba”.
He is survived by three daughters, one son, and two sons-in-law. They are Linda Knuth, Shirley and Rocky Lester, and Dale Park, all of Galesburg, and Mary and Rory Franck of Cambridge, Ill. Other survivors include eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friends Leo and Zella. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Gladys DuBois, Gertrude Shelton Dickerson, and Francis Anderson Sparks; and one brother, Harry Dale Park.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday, August 20, 2012 in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Rev. Curt Lipe will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross or Galesburg Public Library Foundation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements. She was born August 2, 1919 in North Henderson, Ill. to Herman Patrick and Martha Estelle Munson Devlin. She married Alfred Dale Reem February 4, 1939 in The Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death June 26, 2004.
Surviving is a son Larry Dale (and Miava) Reem of Galesburg, a daughter Diane (and Bill) Bonner of Galesburg, two brothers, Darrel Devlin of Galesburg and Cletus Devlin of New Windsor, Ill., four sisters, Ila Berry of Clearwater, Fla., Dorothy Holt of Galesburg, Anarose Rednour of Rio, Ill. and Della Jeanne Foster of Oneida, Ill., three grandchildren, Sean and Thadd Bonner and Devlin Kane Reem and six Great Grandchildren, Austin, Trevor, Sierra, Matthew, Tommas and Samatha Bonner. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a sister.
Glennis was a homemaker. She graduated from Rio high school in 1937. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Galesburg. She was a member and treasurer of First United Methodist Church’s Faith Circle. She taught Sunday School at the North Henderson Methodist Church. She was a Girl Scout Leader at North Henderson and also belonged to Home Extension for many years.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Mary Runge will officiate. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 20, 2012 at the chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. She was born April 19, 1920 in Knoxville, Tenn. the daughter of Winfred C. and Clo B. Callihan Thomas. She married William A. Wager in Galesburg, Ill. on August 17, 1941. He preceded her in death on March 5, 2005.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan E. Wager of Galesburg, Ill.
Margaret worked as a Registered Nurse in Surgery at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1938 and Cottage Hospital School of Nursing in 1941. She was a member of the Knox County Home Extension, Ralph M. Noble American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Galesburg Prairie China Painters, OAKS and Cottage Hospital Nurses Alumna Association. She also was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was very active with the United Methodist Women.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 am Thursday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.
Rev. Mary Runge will officiate. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 am Thursday at the chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 120 N. He was born February 18, 1918 in Jersey City, NJ the son of Abraham L. and Esther F. Cowan Grodjesk. He married Selma Brach on March 14, 1942 in Jersey City, NJ. She preceded him in death on February 2, 2005.
He is survived by his three daughters, Ellen Beth Butler, Carol Ann Grodjesk and Donna “Tara” Grodjesk; two sons, David B. Grodjesk and Kenneth (Carol) Grodjesk; his sister, Bernice Bedrick; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Joseph served as Capt. in the US Army during WWII, serving under Patton’s 3rd Army in Europe. He later served as Lt. Colonel in the Army Reserves for 25 years.
He was an oral surgeon in Jersey City, NJ. He attended the University of Maryland and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Dental School in 1941. He also worked with a free dental care clinic at Jersey City Hebrew Home for 25 years. He volunteered with Tenafly Soccer League. He was a member of the Hudson County (NJ) Dental Society. He served as President for the New Jersey State Dental Society and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Joseph enjoyed gardening, running and antique automobiles. He was a member of Temple Sholom Galesburg, Ill.

He was born March 4, 1952 in Aledo, Ill., the son of Frederick W. and Emma Jane Helm Thiele, SR. He married Debbie J. Goff on July 10, 1971 in Galesburg, Ill. She survives.
Also surviving are his two sons, Ryan M. (Bethany) Thiele of Ashburn, Va. and Adam P. (Araceli) Thiele of Evansville, Ind., his sister, Linda (Jim) Haneghan of Galesburg and a granddaughter, Carolina Thiele. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Fred worked as a Physical Education teacher and coach for basketball, track and football at Bushnell Prairie City Junior High School for 34 years. He retired in 2009. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1970 and Western Illinois University in 1974. He was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Hall of Fame. He enjoyed woodworking and truly loved his job.

He was born November 2, 1958 in Evansville, Ind. the son of James and Margie Tolliver Ranes. He married Elizabeth Bushnell on August 1, 2009 in Galesburg.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his mother and step father, Margie and John Horling of Galesburg; a step son, Craig Ryan of Galesburg; a sister, Tonya Skinner and nephews, Christopher and Joshua, all of Sacramento, Calif. He was preceded in death by his father.
Danny worked in factories and in construction. He graduated from high school in La Puente, Calif.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Jean Scott Brodine; brothers, Jack Brodine of Knoxville, Ill. and Robert (Mary Ann) Brodine of Allison Park, Penn.; as well as son, Jeffrey (Joan) Brodine of Urbana, Ohio and daughter Lynn Brodine of Rye, Colo. He is also survived by three grandchildren, two nephews and two nieces.
“Brodie” graduated from Galesburg High School in 1934 and attended Bradley University. He served as a Captain in the Army Air Corps during World War II and flew A-20 bombers and was one of the few to fly the B-32 bomber, known as “The Dominator”. He served in the Pacific Theatre in New Guinea, the Philippines and Formosa. After release from service in 1946, the family moved to Indiana where Brodie was employed by Standard Oil of Indiana (later Amoco) as Chief Pilot and Manager of the Nine-Ten Corporation, Standard’s corporate aircraft division; he retired in 1977. In 1984, Brodie and Jean moved back to Galesburg, Ill. He was a member of the Soangetaha Country Club and was known as a scratch golfer.

Diane was born January 22, 1951 in Girard, Kan., the daughter of Ralph and Zelda Sullivan Mutch. She married Walter H. Bruening on December 18, 1971 in Pittsburg, Kan. He preceded her in death on August 29, 2009.

She is survived by her mother, Zelda Mutch of Girard, Kan., two sons: Jason (and Nicole) Bruening of Huntsville, Ala. and Jared ( and Kari) Bruening of Galesburg, Ill., a brother Dennis Mutch of Girard, Kan.; two granddaughters, Brook Bruening and Brett Bruening; and a grandson, Owen Bruening. She is preceded in death by her father.

Diane was a 1969 graduate of Girard High School and then attended Southwest Baptist College. She was raised in Girard, Kan. before moving to Springfield, Mo. After 14 years in Springfield she moved to Galesburg in 1991. In Galesburg, she served as the Executive Director of Tourism for Galesburg.

She was a member of the Whitesburg Baptist Church in Huntsville. She enjoyed spending time with her family and animals. She loved singing.

She was born March 20, 1952 in Galesburg, Ill. to Lawrence W. Griffith and Patricia Joan Griffith.
Anna was a 1970 graduate of Galesburg High School. She was active in the high school band.
Anna was a graduate of Carl Sandburg School of Cosmetology and was employed at the O.T. Johnson Beauty Salon. She then started and operated Cuttin’ Corners Beauty Salon on South Seminary Street for several years. She was active in women’s softball and bowling leagues.
She married Michael A. Adams on November 15, 1980 in Galesburg and moved to Tulsa in 1982. In Tulsa, Anna worked in retail for many years and was active in her children’s school P.T.A., serving several years as president.
Anna is survived by her husband and her three children, Kelly (future son-in-law Craig Steed), Ryan, and Betsy, all of Tulsa; along with her father, Lawrence Griffith of Galesburg; her sister, Monica McGraw and husband Ed of Henderson, Ill.; and her brother, Gordon E. Griffith and wife Chris of Lake St. Louis, Mo. She was preceded in death by her mother and grandparents.
Anna got great enjoyment making craft items for family and friends. She enjoyed playing cards and other table games and loved gathering of family and friends.
She was anxiously awaiting the birth of her first granddaughter in September.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Central Congregational Church, 60 S. Broad St., Galesburg. Rev. Jim Ecklund will officiate. She was born October 6, 1925 in Altona, Ill. the daughter of James and Margaret Christie Blackie. She married Howard A. Gummerson on June 1, 1947 in Galesburg, Ill. He preceded her in death August 19, 2004.
She is survived by two sons, Greg H. (Marti) Gummerson of Galesburg and Scott M. (GiGi) Gummerson of Flossmoor, Ill.; five grandchildren, Brent (Jamie) Gummerson, Brad (fiancé Rachel Stamper) Gummerson, Gail (Ramon) Medina, Mitchell and Gwen Gummerson; and two faithful companions, McKenzie and Molly. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister and a brother.
Ruth attended country schools, including Reynolds School and Krefus School in Altona. She graduated from Oneida High School in 1943. She began work for the Burlington Truck Lines, the First Galesburg National Bank, Weber Book Store, Intra State Telephone Company, and the Assessors Office and General Assistance Office of Galesburg. Ruth was a former member of the Jaycettes, the Dandy Lions and Galesburg Parent Teacher Association. She was a member of the Covenant Church and its Ruth Circle and a member of Home Culture. She enjoyed her family and her many friends.

She is survived by her husband, Earl; a son, Steven (and Chris) Cook of Big Bear Lake, Calif.; two daughters, Deb (and Tom) Myers of Knoxville and Kathy (and Danny) Snider of Alexis, Ill.; two grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Frank in 1984; and two brothers.
Evelyn was raised in the Maquon area and graduated from Gilson High School in 1945. She was a farmwife in rural Knox County most of her life. She was a member of Maxey Chapel United Methodist Church. Evelyn was a 4-H leader for 25 years, a member of the Knox County Home Extension for 30 years, and a member of T.O.P.S.

She was born July 29, 1938 in Pocahontas, Ark. the daughter of Lester and Ina Lee Knight Williams.
She is survived by two sons, Russell Ray of Abingdon, Ill and Randal (Mary) Ray of Little York, Ill.; her daughter Rhonda “Bunny” (Darrin) Dalton of Abingdon, Ill.; a sister, Carol (Sidney) Lewis of Abingdon, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Tiffany Moore, Amanda, Adam, Morgan, Maranda, Madison, Matthew Ray, Lexi Dalton and four great grandchildren, Lydia, Spencer, Cooper and Kymora. She is preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Paul Leslie and Rick Ray and a sister Virginia “Ginny” Hermie.
She worked for the former Galesburg Research Hospital and later worked as a registered nurse for Zeller Mental Health Care Center in Peoria. She graduated from Abingdon High School in 1956 and Carl Sandburg College Nursing Program in 1986. She was a charter member of the Abingdon Historical Society. She was a member of the Abingdon Junior Women’s Club, Friends of John Mosser Public Library, and a volunteer for C.A.S.A. Ruby enjoyed gardening, flowers, and reading. She loved to attend the Book Fair at the Library. She was a member of the Abingdon Christian Church.

She was born May 11, 1927 in Cambridge, Il. the daughter of Anton and Betty Bohman Ohlson. She married Lloyd E. Joneson on April 8, 1951 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death July 29, 1981.
Ruth is survived by three daughters Christine and Rick Wehrli of W. Peoria, Il., Sandy and Gary Neuleib of New Windsor, Il., and Janice and Dana Poole of Monmouth, Il., eight grandchildren Clifford and Theresa Wehrli, Amy and Tony Galletti, Holly and Shane O’Brien, Melanie Neuleib, Madeline Poole,Emma Poole, Nicole Poole, and Melissa Poole, four great grandchildren Tyler Wehrli, Dustin Wehrli, Gracie Galletti, and Riley Galletti.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter Erin Neuleib in 2005.
She graduated from Galva High School in 1945 and Browns Business College in 1946. She was a homemaker and also a cashier at Churchill Jr. High School for the lunch program for over 20 years. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, the Christiana Guild and the Young at Hearts of the church. She was a member of the Galesburg Boots & Saddle Club, Vasa Lodge # 17, Lioness, Women of the Moose, and the Bunco Club. She loved spending time with her family, her horses, her pets, and enjoyed traveling.
Funeral service will be 11 AM Monday August 27, 2012 at the First Lutheran Church with Rev. Al Beck officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30-11 AM at the church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer’s Disease Association.

age 82 of Abingdon died at 5:25 pm Monday, August 20, 2012 at the Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg.
She was born on August 14, 1930 in Hermon, the daughter of Seaton and M. Blanche (Stegall) Moon. She married John F. White on June 19, 1954 at Corpus Christi Church in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter, Jillian Lumberry, an infant brother, and one adult brother, Martin Moon.
Anita is survived by two daughters, Mary (Scott) Brownfield and Gerry (Kelvin) Lumberry; one son, Robert P. White and six grandchildren, Tara White, Brenton Brownfield, Tristan Lumberry, Hayley Brownfield, Alicia Lumberry and Chandler Lumberry; two brothers, Seaton (Betty) Moon and Louis Moon; one sister, Alice (Paul) Sharp; and nieces and nephews.
She attended local schools and graduated from Illinois State Normal University. She was a school teacher and librarian for almost 60 years. Her passions were her family, children and grandchildren. She loved teaching, working her garden and books. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Abingdon. Father William Miller I.C. will officiate. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel followed by the praying of the Rosary.

He was born October 15, 1934 in Galesburg, Ill. the son of Franklin D. and Luella M. Jacobs Thompson. He was raised by his step father Leo and mother Luella Gollehur. He married Donna C. Lundquist November 6, 1954 in Galesburg, Ill. she preceded him in death August 1, 2001and later married Roberta “Bobbi” Hall-Bixby December 29, 2001 in Galesburg, Ill.
Robert is survived by his wife Bobbi, one daughter Linda and Roger Miles of Wataga, Ill., he was preceded in death by a son Michael E. Thompson on November 15, 1977. Surviving are two step sons Billy and Lisa Pedigo, TyRay and Julie Pedigo all of Galesburg, one step daughter Debra Ricco of Galesburg, three sisters Janet Christiansen and Wayne Leuchtenberg of Galesburg, Judy and Tom Adams of New Haven, Mo., and Nadine and Ted Pogue of Galesburg, two granddaughters Stacy and Jeff Hertz of Galva, and Christy and Kevin Stone of Wataga, two great grandsons, several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, a beloved Aunt Nora Van Meter of Galesburg, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a half brother George Thompson.
He attended Galesburg High School and was a switchman-brakeman for Burlington-Northern Railroad from 1975-1992. He served in the National Guard and is a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and a past member of the Galesburg Masonic Lodge. He coached for Little League Baseball and was an official umpire for all sports in Galesburg. Robert loved traveling in his motor home, fishing, and bowling. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.
Cremation will be accorded with a Memorial service 6 PM Saturday August 25, 2012 at the First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Ron Scarlett officiating. Visitation will follow services until 8 PM. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial may be made to Roberta Thompson. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.

61 of 317 N. Main St., Henderson, Ill. died 5:15 a.m. Thursday, August 23, 2012 at her home.
She was born July 27, 1951 in Moline, Ill. to Marion Dean and Bertha Louise Johnson Randall. She married David C. Little December 7, 1975 in Henderson. He survives.
Also surviving are two brothers, Billy Randall of Woodhull and Reggy Randall of Moline, Ill, four sisters, Deana Miles of Alpha, Ill., Rhonda Sanders and Tina Randall of Woodhull and Monica Rogula of Cambridge, Ill. and her best friend Sailor. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Renee was a home maker and an Alwood High School graduate.
Cremation will be accorded. There are no services planned. Hinchliff Pearson West Galesburg chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at h-p-w.com.
