Lytle, Jay54, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2015, at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, Illinois after two months of hospitalization due to complications of pancreatitis.
He was born June 25, 1960 in Moline, and at 5 weeks old was adopted by Robert L. and Marcella (Sally) M. Lytle of Galesburg, Illinois. He attended Douglas and Lombard schools and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1978. He was baptized and confirmed in the Galesburg Covenant Church. He worked 35 years for the BNSF railroad in the Galesburg and Alliance, Nebraska yards, becoming an engineer in 1994.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela S. Lytle, two sons, Justin R. Lytle (Julie) and Tyler P. Lytle, one stepdaughter, Samantha Platz. He had 7 grandchildren, Breeanna Cornell, Brody Lytle, Broox Jay Lytle; Taeler Lytle, Tyler Lytle, Cheyenne Lytle and Leeah Lytle; a brother Rod D. Lytle (Julie); stepbrother Dr. Henry Russell (Lynn), stepsister Patricia Russell; and his mother, Sally M. Lytle Russell; a special uncle, Larry Lytle, 6 aunts, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Lytle, and his stepfather, J.T. Russell, plus several uncles, aunts, and cousins.
He loved to race the sprint cars he owned for several years, to ride motorcycles, and later attend auto racing events with his sons and grandson Brody. He also loved to fish when he had time away from operating locomotives for BNSF Railway. He never met a stranger and was known as Jaybird to many. He was always ready to talk railroad with family and friends.
Services will be 11 AM Friday January 30, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Mark Bryant officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Thursday January 29, 2015 at the chapel. Private Inurnment will be at a later date in the Wataga Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.

Boone, Gary73, of Galesburg, Ill. died 7:09 p.m. Sunday, January 25, 2015 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.

He was born February 19, 1941 in Galesburg to LeRoy and Alda Briggs Boone.  He married Iona Wells July 22, 1961 in Galesburg.  She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Michael Boone of Texas and Jon Boone of Galesburg, a daughter, Ellen (and Todd) Basham of Vacaville, Calif., a brother, Thomas (and Donna) Boone of Greenfield, Ind., two grandchildren, Tim Basham and Virginia Basham both of California and a great-granddaughter, Cheyenne Basham of California.  Also surviving is a cousin, Joan (and Clarence) Collins.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Crystal Boone in 1998, a brother, Carl Dean Boone and a sister, Rosalie Boone.

Gary worked for Alton Box Company, Smurfit Stone and is now Rock Tenn for 49 and a half years and retired in 2009.  After his retirement, he was a crossing guard for the city of Galesburg for one year.  He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1959.  He attended First Church of the Nazarene.  He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union.  He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.  He was a kind, gentle, devoted man.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 29, 2015 at First Church of the Nazarene.  Rev. Harold Berrian will officiate.  Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.  Cremation will be accorded following the funeral service and burial of cremated remains will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, American Breast Cancer Society or Galesburg Rescue Mission.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.

He was born September 8, 1923 in Galesburg, Ill. the son of Austin A. and Goldie Mace White. He married Garnett A. McGruder in February 1952 in Springfield, Ill. she preceded him in death November 20, 2005, also preceded by his parents, three brothers Forrest L. Williams, Chester L. Williams, Vincent Williams, and three sisters Norma E.M. Ford, Harriet Jackson, C. Beatrice Anson, and one stepdaughter Beverly Watson.

He is survived by a stepson Larry and Val Trent of Galesburg, a stepdaughter Winifred and Leroy Mack of Peoria, Ill., special granddaughter Angela Hunter and special grandson Roland William both of Galesburg, niece Beverly Thierry of Galesburg, niece Donna Pulley of Cleveland, Oh, nephew Granston Williams of Ft. Worth, Tx., nephew Dwight White of Galesburg, niece Verneta Jones of Macomb, Ill., niece Patty Ashby of Jacksonville, Ill., niece Vicki Olds of Macomb, Ill., nephew Dennis Williams of Quincy, Ill., and fourteen additional grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Charles graduated from Galesburg High School in 1942. He served in the United States Army from 1943-1945. Serving during WWII in the liberation of the South Pacific including the Philippines and Ryukyu Islands, Charles was awarded two Bronze Stars. He worked in construction and then worked at the Galesburg Research Hospital for twenty five years retiring in 1985.

He attended the Second Baptist Church and was a member of the William L. Darrow Masonic Lodge #10 in Galesburg.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Saturday February 7, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Galesburg with Rev. Johnny Trammell and Rev. Jon Sibley officiating. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5-7 PM at the chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted. Memorials may be made to the family. 89, of Boulder City, Nevada died Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 6:15 p.m. at home.

She was born December 19, 1925 in Galesburg, Illinois, the daughter of William and Effie E. Hatfield Harris.  She married Paul A. Johnson on March 1, 1957.  He preceded her in death on December 15, 1996.  She married Paul DeBaugh on April 18, 2000 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He survives.

She is survived by nephews, David (Debra) Thomas of Trophy Club, Texas and John Thomas of Green River, Wyoming; three great-nephews and a great niece.

Dorothy graduated from Galesburg High School in 1943.  She worked at the Chicago Motor Club (AAA) from 1943 until her retirement in 1980.

He was born April 10, 1918 in Rio, Illinois the son of Fredrick A. and Hilda (Peterson) Wenstrom.  He married Lois J. Cohenour in 1938 in Davenport, Iowa.  He later married Ailene A. Greenman on September 11, 1967 in Montello, Wisconsin.  She preceded him in death October 27, 2006.

He is survived by a son, Larry (and Sandie) Wenstrom of Galesburg; a daughter, Sandra K. Heck of Galesburg; a stepson, Mike (and Marcie) Greenman of Rio; a stepdaughter, Hazel Perdue of Virginia Beach, Virginia; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; seven step-great grandchildren; a brother, Nevin A. Wenstrom of Venice, Florida; and three sisters, Irene Clayton of Princeton, Illinois and Ruth Rouland and Dorothy Jean (and Bill) Briton, both of Galesburg.

Kenneth was a farmer for many years.  He also worked at Admiral Corporation, was a cement finisher, and retired in 1985 as a carpenter for the State of Illinois.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.  Kenneth loved to fish and was a member of the Bass Fishing Club.  He was also a member of the Moose Lodge.

Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.  Rev. She was born January 25, 1953 in Galesburg, the daughter of Darwyn L. and Kathleen F. (Morse) Geeseman. She married John H. Peterson on August 23, 1974 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death July 28, 2012.
She is survived by her mother, Kathleen Geeseman of Galesburg; a daughter, Kristi (and Chadwick) Forsythe of Geneseo, Illinois; two grandsons, Boone and Sawyer Forsythe; a brother, George D. Geeseman of Galesburg; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Nancy Peterson of Normal, Illinois; a nephew, Matthew (and Tresha) Peterson of Bloomington, Illinois; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her beloved cat, Carrie. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father.
Darlyn worked in the Knox County Assessor’s Office, retiring after 30 years of service. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1971 and lived her entire life here. Darlyn and John were active members of the former Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
She was active with the Knox County Republican Party, participated in several bowling leagues, and enjoyed watching classic movies. While John was still living, they enjoyed taking daytrips in their 1972 Oldsmobile 442.
Visitation will be 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with Pastor Mary Runge officiating. She was born September 16, 1926 in Conway, Arkansas To Early C. and Della Helton Bunting. She married James Mason Sr. on August 17, 1941 in Conway, Arkansas He preceded her in death in 1973.
Surviving are six sons, James (Sandra) Mason Jr. of Humble, Texas, Bobby (Regina) Mason of Milan, Illinois, Bruce Mason of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Terry (Wanda) Mason of Portland, Oregon, Anthony Mason of Portland, Oregon and Raymond (Yolanda) Mason of Vancouver, Washington; four daughters, Jean (Henry) McCorkle-Anderson of Conway, Arkansas, Robin (Rickey) Mason-Parker of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Felicia (Lemuel) Nichols-Cook of Conway, Arkansas, and Tina Mason of Galesburg. Emma also had 51 grandchildren, 81 great-grandchildren, 23 great-great grandchildren and a special friend, Robert “Bob” Nichols of Jackson, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Linda Mason; four brothers,Samuel, Edward, Clevland and Amos Bunting and four sisters, Hattie Givans, Alice Parnell, Coreda Ryan and Eddie Faye Love.
Emma was a homemaker and also worked for Knox County Housing Authority. She was a faithful reader of the Bible. She was very happy with family and friends. She loved gardening, her pets, cooking and traveling.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2015 at First Baptist Church, Galesburg. Rev. Jerry Cato and Rev. Jon Sibley will officiate the service. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. Repass following the burial will be at First Baptist Church. He worked for Rowe Manufacturing for 27 years. He moved to Carman, Illinois and worked for Modern Welding for 19 years. He enjoyed helping others and fishing was his passion.
Surviving is one son, Mark Sargeant of Peoria; three daughters, Debra (and Gregg) Hart of Galesburg, Melodee (and James) Donlan of Carman, and Gayla (and Jim) Howard of Burlington, Iowa; one brother, Clarence (and Brenda) Sargeant of Galesburg; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; two sisters, Donna Foster and Sylvia Dobson; and one son, Joseph Sargeant.

She was born February 10, 1938 in rural Monmouth, Illinois the daughter of Dale and Mabel Grace Smith. She married Arthur E. Hamman on August 31, 1968 in Galesburg. He survives.
Also surviving is her daughter, Judith (Corey) Remington of Whitewood, South Dakota; two step sons, Kevin (Terri) Hamman of Galesburg and Bruce (Debbie) Hamman of Kenmore, Washington; a step daughter, Shari Johnson of Bexley, Ohio; two brothers, William (Nabuko) Smith of Corona, California and Robert Smith of Spring Hill, Florida; her sister, Nancy Mahaffey of Monmouth,Illinois; 12 step grandchildren and eight step-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents.
She worked in the Finance Department for the City of Galesburg for over 20 years, retiring in 1999. She was a member of the Galesburg Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star #235.
Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Order of Eastern Star services will follow the visitation. Rev. He was born on July 23, 1945 in Galesburg, the son of Howard C. and Audrey J. Louck Young.
Michael is survived by his brother, Marc H. (Diana) Young of Galesburg; his brother-in-law, Roland Singleton and his niece, Edra Renee Singleton of Avon; and his cousin, Joel E. (Anna) Strader of Galesburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Edra Jean Singleton.
He graduated from Bushnell-Prairie City High School in 1963 and attended the University of Illinois in Champaign. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He had worked at Dohrn Transfer in Galesburg and later worked as a paralegal for Craig Collins Law Office in Galesburg. He was the owner of Executive Writing Services in Omaha, where he has lived since 1994. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Cremation will be accorded. Services will be held at a later date with burial of his ashes in the Prairie City Cemetery. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is assisting the family with announcements.

She was born February 14, 1936 in Burlington, Iowa the daughter of Bernard and Gertrude (Roesch) Hayes. She married Larry J. Brower on November 24, 1954 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Burlington.
She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Larry; three sons, David (and Sarah) Brower of Anderson, South Carolina, Jeffrey Brower of Hamilton, Illinois, and Gregory Brower of Jefferson City, Missouri; a daughter, Kristine (and Mark) Peterson of Galesburg; a daughter-in-law, Carol Brower of Hamilton; nine grandchildren, Katie, Michael, Ben, Daniel J., Nichole, Scott, Alexander, Megan, and Whitney; two great grandchildren, Landon and Ryder; and a brother, Donald (and Kathy) Hayes of St. Louis, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; and infant son, Daniel; and two sisters, Frances Smith and Jean Hayes.
Carolyn and Larry lived in Hamilton, Illinois for many years before moving to Galesburg in 2006. While in Hamilton, she was a secretary at Hamilton High School and was affectionately known as “Mrs. B”. After retirement she worked for the Keokuk, Iowa school district for a time. She graduated from Burlington High School in 1954. Carolyn was of Catholic faith and a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Galesburg.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday, February 9, 2015 in Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Rev. William Miller will officiate. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Burlington at 2 p.m. on Monday. He was born December 7, 1926 in Canton, China to Gim Yen and Cheung Heung Wong.  He married Lonnie Lew September of 1953 in Texas.  She preceded him in death.  He later married Mel Yen Wong April 15, 1987 in East Galesburg.  She survives.

Also surviving is a son, Russell (and Nancy) Wong of Galesburg, a daughter-in-law, Connie Wong of Galesburg, three daughters, Melinda (and John) Kilgore, Suzanne (and Dale) Hopping and Knox Wong all of Galesburg, a sister, Carol Gee of Boston, Mass., nine grandchildren, Marc Wong, Tony Wong, Jennifer Kilgore, Alonna Kilgore, Kimberly Norville, Tim Wong, Kristin Wong, Sam Wong and Rose Cree all of Galesburg, and nine great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Findly Wong, a brother, two sisters and a grandson, Robert Kilgore.

Lind became owner of New China in Galesburg in 1967.  New China, in its prime, was considered one of the best places for a steak in town.  He owned and operated the restaurant for 28 years and retired in 1995.  He was born in China then lived briefly in Texas and Quincy, Ill. before settling in Galesburg.  Lind enjoyed cooking for his family.

Gene was born on May 5, 1933 in Fulton County, Illinois to Loise L. and Verna (Lowe) Young; Gene was their only son. Gene married Donna L Hite on Dec. 14, 1963, in Avon. She survives along with their son, John David and wife Courtney (Farrar) Young of Scales Mound, Illinois and a sister, Judy Shover of Abingdon. He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Gene graduated from Avon High School in 1953. He attended the University of Illinois. He later entered the U.S. Navy, serving as a Seabee in the Philippines.
Gene and his father were contractors in and around the Avon area for 20 years. Gene then went to work at Western Illinois University as a carpenter for 20 years, retiring in 1995. He was a carpenter by trade and enjoyed making furniture as his hobby. He also enjoyed traveling, antiquing and genealogical research.
Cremation will be accorded with burial in Avon Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Avon Fire Department or the Avon Public Library. young_larry_p_001Obit_US_Flag83, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 4:13 am Sunday, February 8, 2015 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.

He was born on June 9, 1931 in Galesburg to Herbert A. and Edith D. Ericson Young.  He married Delores Guenther on October 4, 1952 in Knoxville, Illinois.  She survives.

Also surviving is a son, Don (and Linda) Young of Normal, Illinois; six grandchildren, Katie (and Adam) Trammel, Kyle (and Emily) Young, Kevin Young, Kelsey Young, Amy Mercer and Tracy (and Nathan) Peters; and eight      great-grandchildren.

He was preceded by a son, James C. Young on August 2, 2013 and a brother.

Larry was a machine repairman at the former Outboard Marine Corporation/ Gale Products for 30 ½ years, retiring in 1982.

Larry served in the Army from 1949 to 1952 during the Korean War.  He was a member of the VFW Post 2257.  He was a graduate of Knoxville High School.  He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. (I.A.M.A.)

Private graveside services will be held at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg.  Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 4:00pm Sunday, February 15, 2015 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.  Memorials may be made to the family.  Online condolences may be left at www.h-p-w.com.
