70, of Oneida, Ill. died at 7:27 p.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2013 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.
He was born January 16, 1943 Vallejo, Calif. the son of William Henry and Ruth Antoinette Peterson Liepitz. He married Susan Isaacson on February 4, 1979 in Galesburg. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Erik (and Amanda) Liepitz of Knoxville, Ill. and Amanda (and Nick) Soper of Victoria, Ill.; five grandchildren, Ella, Noah, and Waylon Soper and Delaney and Luke Liepitz; and his cousin, Gwen (and John) Perrin of Galesburg. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Floyd worked for Gates Rubber Company in the maintenance department for 35 years, retiring in 2001. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1960 and attended Omaha Tech College. He played bass and electric guitar for over 48 years in several bands including, Marvin Miles and the Countrymen, The Miller Time Band and most recently, Reynolds Station at the OAKS. He was a member of the NRA. He also was a member of First Lutheran Church.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Pamela Marolla will officiate. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Cremation will follow the service. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Online condolences may be offered at www.h-p-w.com.
