70, of Galesburg died at 7:10 pm Sunday, November 10, 2013 at his home.
He was born January 20, 1943 in Galesburg the son of George L. and Dorothy Moran Palmer. He married Eloise “Darlene” McLean in Burlington, Iowa on October 22, 1987. She survives.
Also surviving are his four sons, Larry Magnison, Garry (Annie) Magnison both of Galesburg, Kenneth (Michelle) Larson of Wayland, Mich. and Kevin (Teresa) Larson of Rockford, Ill.; three daughters, Terry (Doug) Bjoin of Sterling, Ill., Karen (Jerry) Verhgen of Black Creek, Wis. and Kendall (Michael) Engle of Galesburg; two brothers, Jim Magnison and John Magnison both of Cameron, Ill.; a sister, Nancy Kemper of Oneida, Ill.; seventeen grandchildren; one great grandson; one great granddaughter; six nieces; four nephews; a brother-in-law, C.L. Carter of Wynne, Ark. and his cat, Missy and dog Casper He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Madoline C. Carter.
He worked for the former CB & Q Railroad and Burlington Northern Railroad as a car man for over 40 years, retiring in 2003. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1962. He was a former member of the Elks Lodge Post 894. He was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid Green Bay Packer Fan.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 am Saturday at the Harmony Baptist Church. Rev. Chris Nessley will officiate. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Harmony Baptist Church or Galesburg Rescue Mission. Online condolences may be offered at www.h-p-w.com.
