91, formerly of rural Cameron, died at 7:57 a.m. Friday, August 16, 2013 at the Care Center of Abingdon.
He was born October 19, 1921 in Warren County, the son of Edward and Alfaretta (Emerson) Edgar. He married Betty Jean Stemp on August 20, 1942 in Monmouth. She preceded him in death January 24, 2011.
He is survived by a son, Roger (and Cindy) Edgar of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a daughter, Bonnie (and Donald) McCracken of Abingdon; five grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a great-great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Lester Earl worked as a materials handler at Butler Manufacturing Company for 30 years. He also farmed for 30 years and raised Collie dogs. Lester Earl graduated from Little York High School in 1939 and lived most of his life in rural Cameron. He was a member of Coldbrook Christian Church.
Cremation will be accorded. Graveside memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Warren County Hope Cemetery, near Alexis. Rev. Jeff Nielsen will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services of Galesburg is in charge of arrangements.
