84, of Galesburg, formally of Hamilton and Carthage, Ill. died April 2, 2013 in Cottage Hospital in Galesburg.
Martha was born in Quincy, Ill. on March 4, 1929 to parents Ralph and Nancy Schrage.
She married Oliver (Ollie) Kirchner in Quincy on Sept. 15, 1951. He passed away on Nov. 14, 1982. On May 18, 1985 she married Max B. Stewart of Hamilton in Carthage.
Martha was an active member of the Daughters of American Revolution. She enjoyed traveling, playing bridge with lifelong friends, gardening, reading, and enjoying winters with Max and friends in Arizona.
Surviving are her husband, Max; a son, Kraig (and wife Mary) Kirchner; a daughter, Cassie (and husband Stacy) Georges; a step-son, James (and wife Gayle) Stewart; six grandchildren, Justin (and wife Renee) Georges, Maggie Georges (and fiancé Jason Lipscomb), Emily (and husband Brandon) Cassens, Kristopher (and wife Olga) Kirchner, Justin Stewart, and Evan Stewart; a great-grandson, Aden Kirchner; two sisters, Mary Decker and Ruth (and husband Ron) Burling; one brother, John Schrage; one sister-in-law, Virginia Schrage; and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Nancy Schrage; her first husband, Ollie; a grandson, Eric Kirchner; and a brother, Robert Schrage.
Cremation rites have been conducted. A private memorial service will be held on April 24, 2013 followed by a Celebration of Life. Memorials may be made in Martha’s honor to the Hamilton Public Library or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
