Mr. Gerald W. Larson, Galesburg Chapel

larson-gerald.jpgobit_us_flag.jpg70, of Galesburg, died at 11:53 a.m. Sunday, January 13, 2013 in the emergency room of OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
He was born October 8, 1942 in Moline, Ill. the son of Wayne A. and Rose Johnson Larson.
He is survived by his mother, Rose Krebs of Clinton, Iowa; his significant other of 25 years, Virginia “Ginny” Campbell; his children, Blaine Larson and Brent Larson, both of Clinton, Robin (and Mack Holland) Miles of Savannah, Ga., Robert Larson of Clinton, Susan (and Thomas) Donahue of Camanche, Iowa, Tori (and Brent) Lybarger of Afton, Tenn., Brandon (and Jessica) Larson of Illinois City, Ill., and Rachel Campbell of Galesburg; 17 grandchildren; and a sister, Mary (and Jim) Bartels of Clinton. He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne; step father, Al Latzer in 1971; and a son, Jeff Larson in 2009.
Gerald worked at the BP Farmer’s Co-Op in Oneida for 30 years. He then was a conductor for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad until retiring in 2009.
He was raised and educated in Clinton, Iowa, where he graduated from Clinton High School. He attended Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg. He was of the Lutheran faith. Gerald enjoyed fishing, camping, line dancing, and gardening.
Gerald served in the United States Navy for 3 years. He was a lifetime member of the Oneida American Legion.
Gerald was an organ and tissue donor.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Military rites will be presented at 7 p.m. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation.
