Mr. Earl A. Cook, Galesburg Chapel

cook_earl.jpgobit_us_flag.jpg85, of Galesburg died at 4:40 am Monday, December 10, 2012 in Rosewood Care Center.
He was born February 20, 1927 in Fulton County, Ill. the son of Franklin and Estella Elkins Cook. He married Evelyn Pruett on February 26, 1950 in Knoxville, Ill. They were married for 62 years. She preceded him in death on July 17, 2012.
He is survived by one son, Steven (Chris) Cook of Big Bear Lake, Calif.; two daughters, Debra (Tom) Myers of Knoxville, Ill., and Kathy (Danny) Snider of Alexis, Ill.; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, Franklin in 1984 and two brothers.
He served in the US Army Air Corp from 1945-1947 during WWII as Corporal stationed in Germany.
He was a farmer for over 50 year in rural Knox County, retiring in 1998. He graduated from Gilson High School in 1945. Earl was a 50 year member of the Knoxville Masonic Lodge #66, 50 year member of the Farm Bureau and he served for 25 years as a 4-H Leader. He served as the Persifer Township Supervisor for 25 years and was the Youth Counselor for the Maxey Chapel for 30 years.
Funeral services will be 1:30PM Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Pastor Russ Collister officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 PM Thursday at the Chapel. Burial will be in the Knoxville Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285. Memorials may be made to the Maxey Chapel or a charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be left at www.h-p-w.com.
