85, of Galesburg, Ill., died at 12:58 pm Thursday, November 1, 2012 in Seminary Manor Nursing Home.
He was born July 25, 1927 in Karnak, Ill., the son of W.D. and Mary Ethel Keys Berry. He married Bessie Lee McReynolds on August 8, 1948 in Thompsonville, Ill. She survives.
Also surviving is a son, Mark (Theresa) Berry of Mahomet, Ill.; their children, Alex, Mitchell, Matthew and Jacob Berry; his daughter, Joan (Bill) Keith of Galesburg; their daughter, Libby (Joel) Zaiser and three great grandchildren, Hannah, Brady and EllenMarie. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Wilma Franks Davis and his grandson, Michael William Keith.
Bill served in the US Navy during WWII.
He worked as a teacher, teaching Industrial Arts for 31 years in Flora, Ill. He taught for 36 years and retired in 1987. He graduated from Southern Illinois University, receiving both his Bachelors of Science and Master Degree. He was a member of the Clay County Civil War Roundtable. Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church of Louisville, where he served as a deacon.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at the Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora, Ill. Rev. Van McQueen will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm Monday, November 5, 2012 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 am Wednesday, November 7, 2012 in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg, Ill. with Rev. James Ecklund officiating.
