69, of Galesburg, died at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2012 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born August 25, 1943 in Galesburg the son of Frank and Dagny Olson Lawson. He married Janice Beanson and then Tina Swanson. He later married Beverly June Williams on June 28, 1986. She preceded him in death on September 24, 2002.
He is survived by a daughter, Saylor Stam; an adopted son, Troy Lawson; a step daughter, Linda Goslow; step sons, Richard Cope, Peter Menter, and Dennis Menter; an aunt, Elsie Glinski; a brother-in-law, Leonard Alexander; niece and nephew, Julie Alexander and Mike Alexander; several cousins including, Tom (and Kathy) Oakley, Gary Orwig, and Bonnie Westfall; and special friends, Gail Johnson and Thumper. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Janet Alexander; and several aunts and uncles.
Wendell was a tool and die maker for 45 years. He worked at Gale Products, several job shops in California, and retired from Benedict’s in Peoria in 2008.
Wendell graduated from Galesburg High School in 1961. He was a member of the Covenant Church. He was also a member of the N.R.A. and enjoyed hunting and helping others.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Mr. Dave Scholl will officiate. Visitation will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the chapel.
