81, of Galesburg, died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, October 20, 2012 in Heartland Health Care Center.
He was born February 25, 1931 in Galesburg the son of Cloyd E. and Bertha Carlson Rhea. He married Carol M. Swanson on January 2, 1965 in Galesburg. She preceded him in death on November 4, 1976.
He is survived by a son, Rusty (and Brenda Lytle) Sargent of Knoxville; two daughters, Shari (and Francisco Garcia) Mahnesmith of Galesburg and Robin (and Andrew) Chernin of Coal Valley, Ill.; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Timothy (and Pamela Freeman) Rhea of Richmond, Va. and David Rhea of Bakersfield, Calif.; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a power clerk for the Burlington Northern Railroad for many years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Alpha Lodge AF & AM. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Cremation will be accorded. Masonic service will be 4:30 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2012 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel by Alpha Masonic Lodge followed by visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday, October 26, 2012 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Tom Larsen will officiate and military rites will be provided by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. Memorials may be made to Prairieland Animal Welfare Center.
