83 of Bushnell, Ill. formerly of Wataga, Ill. passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 3:45 pm Saturday, September 15, 2012 in Knox County Nursing Home Knoxville, Ill.
Eleanor was born August 20, 1929 in Monmouth, Ill., the daughter of Archie and Erma Ratekin Shaw. She married Bernard E. Lucas on December 22, 1947 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on August 8, 1987. She later married Richard M. Olson in 1989 in Wataga. He preceded her in death in February of 1991.
She is survived by a son, Bernard “Sonny” (and Jeanette) Lucas of Wataga, Ill.; a daughter, Patricia (and Robert) Miller of Bushnell; four grandchildren, Michael (Anne) Lucas, Rachael Lucas, April (TJ) Eddington and Bethany (Colter) Lindsey; six great grandchildren, Crystal (Jake) Wetzel, Alyssa Ingles, Remington and Weston Lindsey and Brenna and Avery Eddington and twin great great grandsons, Gabriel and Wyatt Wetzel. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, a son, Jeffrey Keith Lucas in 1981 and a brother, James Shaw.
Eleanor was raised in Cameron, Ill. and spent over 40 years living in Wataga, Ill. She attended Galesburg High School, graduating in 1947. She worked as a Psychiatric Technician at Galesburg Research Hospital for 25 years.
Eleanor was a member of the Wataga Congregational Church and was active in her church. She was also a member of the Bushnell Christian Church. She also loved to read and was an avid Cub fan.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:30 am Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. John Simmons will officiate. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm Friday at the chapel. A Private Family Burial will be in Wataga Cemetery at a later date. Cremation will follow services. Memorials may be made to the New Life Fellowship Church in Wataga, Bushnell Christian Church or to the LaGrace Hall of Hope in Galesburg. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
