Mr. Charles V. Lovejoy, Galesburg Chapel

76, of Galesburg, died at 8:59 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2012 in Rosewood Care Center.
He was born July 15, 1936 in Macomb, Ill. the son of Orville V. and Nellie Mae Baumann Lovejoy. He married Caroline Becraft on October 16, 1962 in Roseville, Ill. He later married Lou Ann Anderson Shirck on November 28, 1991 in Galesburg.
He is survived by his wife, Lou Ann; three daughters, Holly Rose Iungerich of Leander, Texas, Celia Anne Laverenz of Guyton, Ga., and April Christine Lovejoy of Springfield, Ga.; a step daughter, Laurie Shirck Monfiletto of Albuquerque, N.M.; five grandchildren, Justin Michael Iungerich, Corey Ryan Iungerich, Rachael Elizabeth Laverenz, Kathryn Olivia Laverenz, and Emily Grace Laverenz; and two step grandchildren, Max Monfiletto and Pilar Monfiletto. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Melody Mae Lovejoy in 1966.
Charles first worked as a farmer. He later worked for John H. Best and Son in Galva and Pearson Manufacturing in Galva. For 12 years prior to his retirement in 2002, he was an over the road truck driver for Star Transportation.
Charles graduated from Good Hope High School in 1954. He and Lou Ann have enjoyed traveling these past 10 years since retirement to Texas during the winter months. Charles enjoyed anything related to farming, was a collector of John Deere memorabilia, and loved Farm Progress Shows. He was always smart and knew how to help with math homework or to fix bicycles. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Galesburg.
A luncheon will be served at 11:30 a.m. Monday, September 10, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Visitation will follow from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the church with a funeral service at 2 p.m. Rev. Dr. Tom Larsen will officiate. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery at 4 p.m. Monday. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
