Mr. Victor L. Kidd, Abingdon Chapel

64 of Abingdon, passed away at 11:37 p.m. Sunday, February 7, 2016 at his home with his sister Cyndee and caregiver Lynda by his side.
He was born February 27, 1951 in Monmouth, Illinois, the son of Leslie and Katherine Hall Kidd. He married Lynne C. Bacon on October 31, 1975 in Galesburg. She preceded him in death on October 11, 1996. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, Samuel Mettler, his stepmother, Nancy Kidd, an infant brother, Theodore Samuel Mettler, and one sister, Kathleen Hull.
Vic is survived by one son, Zachary A. Kidd of Galesburg; two brothers, Christopher (Stephanie) Kidd of Peoria and Richard (Beverly) Kidd of Marshall, Missouri; three sisters, Cyndee (Doug) Hardesty of Orlando, Florida and Marla (Robert) Humes of Tallahassee, Florida, Sandra (Jeff) Smith of Monmouth; aunts, uncles, several nieces and nephews and their families; and his caregiver, Lynda Anderson.
He had lived in Abingdon since 1975 and worked as a line stacker at Admiral/Maytag for 30 years retiring in 2000. He was a gunsmith for many years and he volunteered to repair the rifles used by the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 Honor Guard.
Vic requested that he be buried privately next to his wife in the Abingdon Cemetery. In celebration of his life, a time of food and fellowship will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 in Abingdon.
